Why should I donate?

Here's the DL

Cornwall Air Ambulance costs a whopping £1.7 million a year to run and receives zero funding from central Government. The trust relies on the generous donations of the local people of Cornwall and would be grounded without such support.

As of September 3rd 2012, the Cornwall Air Ambulance has completed 23,146 mission. This number climbs daily, and cannot continue without generous support.

"Our helicopter is one of the busiest due to our population being widely scattered (and a long way from a hospital), clogged up roads during the summer, our love of ‘extreme sports’ and our beaches, moorlands and cliff tops being inaccessible by road."

From its base at Newquay Airport, Cornwall's air ambulance can reach any part of the county within 20 minutes, and 28 minutes to the Scillies. This dedicated service flies at 140mph, and on average arrives on the scene of any 999 call within 12 minutes. Although the air ambulance is an expensive service, its use significantly reduces times by flying over our scattered communities, tractor-clogged lanes and tourist-filled roads. The Cornwall Air Ambulance has been the difference between life and death on many occasions over the past 25 years and is a vital service to the people and visitors of Cornwall.

So why am I climbing Kilimanjaro?

Simple - I hate exercise, and what better way to raise money than by doing something totally out of my comfort zone and putting my body through it all?

Don't get me wrong, climbing Kili has been on my bucket list for some time, but actually doing it hasn't been. Not until there was a good cause involved.

If you'd like to read about the hell that I'm planning on putting myself through, here's an article on Wanderlust by the lovely Saz about how utterly awful but tremendously satisfying it's going to be.

Wish me luck and please, I beg you - encourage me to train. I am a shallow, shallow individual and the only motivation I have is money. The more you donate, the more I'll train!
